It’s not a matter of hiding ‘another part of the war’… East Germany is a direct result of the war, but its nuclear bunkers have nothing to do with the second world war as such. That’s just being uninformed.

The German government and people would very much like the bunker to remain open, but as the county of Berlin Brandenburg is highly in debt, the question is how to invest the little money that is available. Keeping an old nuclear bunker open, somewhere in the woods outside of Berlin, is surprisingly not a very high priority.

By the way, yes, the bunker is going to be sealed – but everything is going to be preserved for a future opportunity to reopen the site when funds are available.
