Social Security Agency website hours of business

Social Security Agency website hours of businessIt is my fault. It is your fault. The SSA, a.k.a. Social Security Agency, asked me to check my information online. Now while I don’t usually bother checking things like this, I guess boredom made me do it. Of course, I wasn’t expecting a website to only function during regular business hours.

So clicking a link in a totally unsuspicious email that recommended that I check my account online got me to check it out — now I know that many of you are thinking that this sounds a little fishy, or phishy, but as you can see from the image below the email is read through plain text so the link shown is actually the link directed toward…

SSA email

… now though it may be at late at night, it shouldn’t matter. It’s the Interwebs (Internet to those who haven’t known it long enough to know it’s nickname) and the last time I checked, it worked 24-hours a day. In fact, no matter what time zone you live in, as long as there is time recognized in your area of the world and the Interwebs reach your location, it’s open. All the time. Even in China (though there routing of Internet traffic would be a good RZone reveal). So check the screen shot taken below and tell me what hours the Interwebs work for you if not as posted:

And to verify that the site wasn’t just a phishing site I checked the ever-useless site Cert and it looks as legit as any of the site certs appear:

SSA Website Certificate

Another area of the SSA website that tells me about their privacy policy and terms of service brags about how I have to pay for the website to be worked on, as a US taxpayer:

SSA Website taxpayer expense

So if you are venturing into the realm of online Social Security Agency fun, be sure that you tell ’em I said hi and I’ll work on returning during their hours of convenience open hours.

Main SSA Interwebs link.

Open/Close hours link.

About my beginning words, the “my fault” “your fault”, I say that only because as US taxpayers we are responsible… according to the SSA site at least.
